Operations on this line:

The ORDC/CP Owen Sound Subdivision is the combination of the CP Orangeville Subdivision and CP Owen Sound Subdivision. The CP Orangeville Subdivision ran between Streetsville via the CP Galt Subdivision and the Jct. to the CP Owen Sound Subdivision at Orangeville.
The CP Owen Sound Subdivision ran between Orangeville and Owen Sound.
Both lines were eventually combined and known entirely as the CP Owen Sound Subdivision, then CP abandoned the line north of Orangeville and the name of the line stayed as the CP Owen Sound Subdivision.
CP had a train known as the Moonlight which operated on this line until September 28, 2000, when Cando Contracting took over operations and the city of Orangeville created a corporation know as the ORDC which is the Orangeville Railway Developement Corporartion.
Cando contracting is the railroad the operates on this line between Orangeville and mile 2.2, though they operate over the trackage from mile 2.2 to mile 0.2 at the interchange yard which are just a few sidings at Queen Street.
Cando has one GP9 marked 1000 and a caboose. Cando's rolling stock is black with a wide grey horizontal line along the center of the body.      They aqcuired the caboose from the Barrie-Collingwood operations on August 20, 2001. I happened to coincidentally - preparing to follow the Owen Sound Subdivision to Brampton when I looked over to the south side of the crossing at mile 0.2 when I saw two CP GP9u's and a black/grey caboose and a railcar.
CP now interchanges with Cando at Streetsville.

During the later Summer of 2001, Tim Horton's filmed a commercial on the OBRY Owen Sound Subdivision in and around Orangeville.
During the Salt Lake Winter Olympics in February 2002, Tim Horton's began to broadcast the commercial on CBC. There was a 30 and 60 second version.
I have made available both the 30 and 60 second versions for the railfans who know the line, though it is copyright of Tim Horton's. I hope they don't mind me making it available to you...Kinda like free advertising for them. :-) It is playable in Windows Media Player and Quick Time.

The 30 second file is 6.18 MB....Uncompressing to just over 7 MB.
The 60 second file is 8.0 MB....Uncompressing to just over 8 MB.
