Rule 105 Territory - Not to exceed 15 mph on entire trackage.
As the line has now been closed due to arson of one of the bridges on this line, the line is now closed until further notice.
The TR Townline Spur is part of the old NS&T Main Line. I believe it was part of the old Welland Division.
These days, as did before, the TR Townline Spur leaves the TR Grantham Spur, south of Lincoln Street in St. Catharines and heads south over the former property of Domtar and crossed over top of Oakdale Avenue and the CN Grimsby Subdivision. The line then continues south down across Glendale Avenue which happened to be re-aligned in 2006, once Domtar was torn down and Glendale Avenue is now a direct 4way intersection with Merritt Street. Merritt Street is the same street as Hartzel Road, but they are broken down into different segments, just as Ormond Street is the same street as these, but located at the top of the escarpment in Thorold.
After crossing Glendale Avenue, the line crosses Merritt Street and heads up the Niagara Escarpment into Thorold to the one paper industry. I don't know what the name is these days. It was once Kimberly Clark. CN 549 used to service this plant until 1999, but Trillium now does the switching when required.
Trillium has a caboose of which they use to take to St. Catharines for servicing his industry, because they required a member of the crew to be on the end of the train because they had to back down the escarpment back down to the switch to the TR Grantham Spur.
In March or April of 2007, somebody set fire to the Abbott St. bridge located about mile 2.1 on the TR Townline Spur and from that day on, Trillium has ceased operations on this line. I was informed that someone rode the last stranded car down the hill applying the brakes as required. I don't know if the line will ever be reopened.
I believe it was in March 2008, the Townline Spur was given back to CN between the Abbott Street overpass and I believe Merritt Street crossing just south of Glendale Avenue, for CN's disposal.
As it wasn't until August 2010 that I was able to get to St. Catharines to take a look at this line that I saw that the switch to the line was removed since then, from 2008. So with no switch, I moved this page to the abandonded section of trackage, though as of 2010 some rail is still in plave on the line within the high grass.
Near the end of November 2011, I was made aware that the bridge over Oakdale Avenue was going to take place on Tuesday November 29, 2011. Photos taken at mile 2.29 in 2011 were taken the day before the bridge was taken out.

This photo is of the one stub track that heads off of the TR Townline Spur, along the old Kimberley-Clark paper plant in Thorold. I have never seen a single car on this track.
